Vegan in Playa del Carmen? Here Are the Must-Try Spots I’m Dreaming About

Hey foodie fam — I’ve got travel on my mind and tacos in my heart. As I plan my next birthday getaway, my eyes (and stomach!) are laser-focused on one thing: the plant-based scene in Playa del Carmen. I’m talking fresh flavors, beachy vibes, and vegan eats that make your soul do a happy dance.

While I’m hoping to stay at the wellness-forward Palmaïa, The House of Aïa (seriously, it’s a dream!), what’s really calling me is the incredible vegan food culture I’ve been stalking all over social media. This city looks like a plant-based paradise — and I want in.

PS: If you’re a hotel or brand looking to collaborate with a plant-based coach + Gen X influencer, let’s connect: vegantravelfoodie@gmail.com

El Bajon Vegano

If you’re looking for that real-deal Mexican street food vibe — you know, the kind that’s messy, spicy, and insanely satisfying — this is the spot. Their tacos are legendary among vegans and non-vegans alike. Think: al pastor, suadero, and barbacoa, all made with plant-based meats so good you’ll do a double take. They even have tortas and burgers, all loaded up with bold, authentic flavors.

The Vegan Spot

Perfect for when you need something quick but don’t want to skimp on flavor. The Vegan Spot offers bowls, wraps, and hearty salads, plus desserts and cold-pressed juices that are perfect for a mid-day refresh. It’s laid-back, affordable, and packed with options — great for grabbing something light before hitting the beach.

Frutería y Heladería Natural

Not just your average fruit stand — this spot is pure tropical magic. You’ll find rainbow-hued acai bowls, fresh-cut fruit sprinkled with tajín, and some of the creamiest vegan ice cream in town. It’s refreshing, naturally sweet, and totally Instagram-worthy.

Coral Vegan Pizza

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you can have pizza night while keeping it plant-based. Coral Vegan Pizza makes that easy with wood-fired pies topped with homemade cashew cheese, spicy vegan sausage, caramelized onions, and even jackfruit “meat.” Creative, satisfying, and 100% cruelty-free comfort food.

Corazón Contento

This cute café is all about that cozy, “just like home” vibe. Their breakfast menu is packed with options like fluffy vegan waffles, chickpea omelets, smoothies, and fresh juices. It’s the kind of place where you start your day slow and savor every bite. Bonus: they’re also known for their friendly service and warm atmosphere.

Nein Buck

Craving something bold and indulgent? This burger joint delivers. Think juicy vegan patties stacked high with smoky “bacon,” vegan cheese, creamy sauces, and crispy fries on the side. They even do plant-based hot dogs and wings. It’s your go-to for a late-night bite or when you just need some comfort food.
📍 Avenida CTM entre 5ta Av. y 10 Av.

Salvei

Asian fusion meets plant-based innovation at this stylish little spot. The menu is full of standouts like Thai curry, pad Thai, sushi rolls, and gyoza, all veganized with love. Everything is beautifully plated and bursting with bold, balanced flavors — it’s a total must if you love Asian cuisine.
📍 5 Av. between 42 and 44 Street

Plantívoros

This one’s for my sweet-tooth sisters! Plantívoros is known for its decadent plant-based desserts — we’re talking gooey brownies, colorful cupcakes, and layered cakes you’ll swear aren’t vegan (but they are!). They also make cute custom cakes if you’re celebrating something special in paradise.
📍 Calle 14 Nte bis entre Av 35 y 40
HappyCow

Ressio

Ressio gives off serious slow-morning energy. Picture an open, minimalist café where you can sip cold brew or golden lattes while watching the world go by. It’s ideal for digital nomads, solo travelers, or anyone needing a calm moment — and yes, they have vegan milks and bites too.

Manifesting the Dream Stay

And the dream stay? Palmaïa: The House of Aia, of course I wrote a blog post about it here. Okay, real talk — if I can make it happen, Palmaïa is the wellness sanctuary I want to land at for this trip. Their focus on plant-based cuisine, sustainability, and healing experiences aligns with everything I love and teach. Let’s manifest it, shall we?

If you know someone at Palmaïa: The House of Aia (or you ARE someone at Palmaïa 👀), email me: vegantravelfoodie@gmail.com. I’m open to collabs and would love to highlight the full experience from a plant-based lifestyle lens.

If you’ve been to Playa del Carmen and have vegan spots to add to the list, hit me up. I’ll be sharing updates, reviews, and interesting restaurants and maybe an activity or two so subscribe to the newsletter.

Ready to eat your way through paradise with me? Let’s go.
